Newport Beach Family Day

A week or two ago Jake had a quick shoot down in Orange County so we decided to tag along. I got to catch up with a few of my sweet friends who live down there and we found the absolute best park, it’s on a little bay and look at that amazing lighthouse slide back there, it’s the cutest! Hudson and Sofia had so much fun – clearly.
Happy Wednesday!

I LOVE these shoots! Seriously, there’s a lot that goes in to them but we always have SO much fun! We got to work with some amazing brands and the most phenomenal women. We had such a great day together, and I’m so proud of Jake for these photos, I feel like he just keeps outdoing himself. All our amazing vendors are linked at the bottom, I can’t recommend them enough! Happy almost weekend!

Beverly Hills Library

We’re trying to give one day a week to spend together and explore this beautiful city. We so easily get caught up in our day to day and realize we haven’t spent time just being and enjoying where we live. We also try to make these days super special for Hudson and Sofia and find things that are really fun for them. So last week we branched out to Beverly Hills. We used to go to church in Hollywood so we’d be out of our part of town at least once of week, but now that we go to church closer to home I find myself not going over to the West Side for months at a time. Anyways, we stumbled upon the Beverly Hills Library and none of us were disappointed! Seriously so fun! And there are obviously a ton of fun things to do in that area. We highly recommend it!

Spring!

Spring is here! I was so eager about it I spent all day yesterday thinking that it was the 21st and posting about it being the first day of Spring. Oopsy. Anyways – I am so excited for a new season! I don’t love rain, like I enjoy the first day or two of it, but I grew up in Southern California and I’m 100% a sunshine girl. There’s something so sweet about new seasons, especially Spring, full of new life and the end of the cold. I am excited for what this next season will hold. Our lemon tree is currently dripping rain, but trying to just look past that and be anticipatory for more days like this 😉
Happy Spring!

Spring Transition Dresses

We are having amazing weather again, and it has me all in the mood for Spring! I think one of the things I really love about Spring is that you get to mix and match your favorite Winter items with your favorite new Spring pieces; boots with dresses, skirts and jackets, shorts and long sleeves. It’s so fun! This dress has quickly become one of my favorites, I could wear it every day. This one is sold out, but I’ve shared a few of my favorite transitional dresses at the bottom.

Happy almost Spring!

Kidspace

Ok, I am so not used to LA having a winter, we haven’t had one in like 5 years, and I’m out of practice. On the one hand it’s fun to bundle up, on the other hand,  in 10 years I haven’t gone a year without being at the beach in a swimsuit in February, and you can’t really beat that. BUT this past week, it felt like spring!!! We are loving it! Hudson has played in the backyard for hours each day, we get to leave our windows open without getting super cold (I know I’m totally spoiled and a whimp when it comes to the “cold”), and we get to start revisiting our favorite outdoor spots. Hudson has been asking to go to Kidspace for weeks, and we finally got to go! It is our favorite kids museum in LA. It’s right in Pasadena next to the Rose Bowl, and you could easily spend the entire day there. They have indoor and outdoor play/explore areas and our favorite part in the summer is the river where kids can walk up and down the rocks and play with buckets and there’s a little waterfall, it is AMAZING! PS … I’m dying over their little faces in these pictures. Ah, I love them.

Happy Monday!

The most important

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how as a mom I’m always second guessing myself. How I prioritize my time with Hudson and Sofia, my time with Jake, my time with other people, not to mention time on my own; it has become somewhat of an unexpected battle. There really are only so many hours in a day, and I never realized the value of every single minute the way I do since having kids. I have so much respect for moms of four and five and more kids. I don’t know how they do it, and yet they are some of the moms I look up to the most . My own mom somehow balanced it all so well. You always hear about the duck; how it’s calm on the surface but paddling like crazy under the water, I imagine it must be something like that.
I am constantly thinking to myself, what is the most important thing for today? As an avid list maker and prioritizer, this seems logical. But, I think I’m learning that with kids, “important,” doesn’t follow the same rules that the rest of life does, because with kids you never really know what the next day is going to hold. When Hudson falls and scrapes his knee and he needs an extra ten minutes of cuddles, or when Sofia is teething and wants to only be held by me all-day-long. When the day is just off and you need to throw out all the plans and BE more than you need to DO. These things are the most important. Ultimately the organic balanced meals, the limited screen time, the outdoor physical activity, the at least 30 minutes of book reading – they’re all good, but really I don’t think they’re the things that are the most important. Taking the time to see where they’re at and what they need that day – that is more important. And more than anything it’s really just love – that’s what they need more than anything – that is most important. It takes a lot of different forms, it’s usually not quantifiable, it usually can’t be checked off a to-do list, but that is what I think will shape these tiny souls more than anything else.
So if you’re struggling like I am, give yourself a break and take a step back; if you’re even thinking about anything regarding what benefits your kids, it’s probably because you love them more than life itself. You’re doing great, mama!

Valentine’s Day

Truth, I LOVE Valentine’s Day! A holiday all about love, and pink, and I’m ALLLL about it. Growing up, my mom always made Valentine’s Day so fun and special for our family, so it’s never been associated with any of the negative things that make some people dislike this holiday.
Jake and I usually celebrate on the 13th because it’s our number, and so we can spend the 14th together having fun as a family. This was our morning, and tonight we’ll be doing steak and hot fudge sundaes, and celebrating the incredible gift of love and family.

Also, Jake made the cutest little Valentine video of Hudson surprising me with his homemade valentine. Seriously, killed me. I put it down at the bottom. Hope you all have such a great day!

Baci Baci,
Jac

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:16-18

Choose Together

Heyyyyyyy!

We’re back! We are so excited to be relaunching this space! We’ve gone through seasons of doing this more diligently and seasons where life has demanded more of us than we could give here, but the truth is we love it. We love having a space to share our life in this crazy city with our friends and family. So welcome to the fam!
We created this as a space for us to work together, to each express ourselves creatively, to encourage, to share. We CHOOSE TOGETHER: to work together, to do life together; together with the Lord, together the two of us, together with our kids, together with other creatives.

We’re also so excited to be launching our YouTube channel! It’ll have all the same things that we share here; family, marriage, faith, our LA life, fashion & beauty. We put an intro video to the channel up today! Check it out! Let us know what you want to see!

We love that you’re here for this journey together with us!

Celebrating LOVE

Basically as soon as the Christmas tree comes down I’m ready to decorate for Valentine’s Day. I wait until February 1 to really start celebrating, but I love it! We didn’t get to making homemade valentines this year, but we’ve had a lot of fun over the last two weeks. Hope you’re all enjoying celebrating!
