Beverly Hills Library

We’re trying to give one day a week to spend together and explore this beautiful city. We so easily get caught up in our day to day and realize we haven’t spent time just being and enjoying where we live. We also try to make these days super special for Hudson and Sofia and find things that are really fun for them. So last week we branched out to Beverly Hills. We used to go to church in Hollywood so we’d be out of our part of town at least once of week, but now that we go to church closer to home I find myself not going over to the West Side for months at a time. Anyways, we stumbled upon the Beverly Hills Library and none of us were disappointed! Seriously so fun! And there are obviously a ton of fun things to do in that area. We highly recommend it!

Cupcake date

I can’t believe I’m so behind on getting this post up. A week or two ago we took an afternoon to just get out and walk around one of our favorite places. The Americana is this great outdoor mall with the best atmosphere, and we love it there. Sofia slept through the entire outing which let Hudson get some more one-on-one time, which I love. He adores his sister, no doubt, but getting our undivided attention fills his little heart up so much. We got Sprinkles which is clearly a win, I love the excitement on his face in these pictures, he’s so expressive and I love the moments we’re able to capture it.

LA Zoo

We have been really trying to take advantage of all that this beautiful city has to offer. We haven’t had a zoo pass for about a year, and when I was in Texas Jake took Hudson and renewed it. I’m not sure who enjoys it more, but I have no doubt we’ll be spending a lot of time there this summer! Jake was able to get some amazing shots of the lions, and according to the lion keeper getting shots of them showing affection is really rare, so that was fun. Hudson still hasn’t stopped talking about all the animals! Sofia did great on her first zoo trip! Clearly she slept through it all.
Happy Wednesday!

Fiery Souls

IMG_2095

The other night I had a few moments to be still. Just me and God, these times are rare in my home. As I sat and pulled out this little journal that, for some reason, I resent lately, nonetheless, I began to write out my prayer. I was taught at a young age to always begin prayer in thanks, and I am eternally grateful for this. Taking time to thank God before I petition Him, realigns my heart, at least a little bit.

So I sat and thanked God for the most foundational aspects of who He is, because, honestly, at this point, it’s what I need to be reminded of: He is good, He is sovereign, He is God, He is with us… As I continued, I began to pray for myself as a mom, and mine and Jake’s children; I really felt compelled to pray this for every child He ever entrusts us with. And I had this beautiful realization. As Christians we are called to be lights in the darkness, a city on a hill. As moms we have the opportunity to be used by God to ignite that fiery light it tiny souls. So my prayer as a mom has been shaped to look something like this…

Lord, I want to be a light, but more than a light to anyone else, I want to light up my children. That you would use me to ignite a fire so deep within their beautiful souls that no darkness could ever squelch it; there is no greater privilege I have as a mama.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”

Here is a great, short sermon about being a parent – so so encouraging!

Manhattan Beach

We had such a sweet weekend! So full, and so sweet. We got to celebrate one of Hudson’s best bud’s birthday, and then spent the rest of the weekend celebrating one of my best friend’s engagement! Watching my friend find her person, has been a true blessing, and her fiancé flying them out to LA for the weekend to celebrate was more than I could have hoped for her.

Sunday morning Jake got to shoot some amazing engagement photo for them, and we spent the rest of our afternoon walking around the beach, soaking up some sun, and drinking milkshakes (Hudson’s favorite part)!

This little baby is 27 weeks and I am trying to soak up the next three months of him or her growing inside me. Hudson let me wear him in the Ergo for the first time in a long time, and it was just so sweet to carry both my babes around soaking up this crazy warm winter. It honestly got so warm that we were all taking off our jackets, oh LA. Hope your weeks are going well!

An Afternoon at The Park

Some good friends recommended this amazing park that overlooks the whole city. We took the afternoon this weekend, had a picnic, and took some pictures. Typically After the holidays I feel like there’s a little lull, but not this year; things seem to be as busy as ever! So we enjoyed taking some time to slow down and be still-er. Hudson was obsessed with this park, and “cooking” with his sticks. It has undoubtedly become one of our new favorite places. I am so in love with these jeans and this sweater from PinkBlush Maternity! Being pregnant in the winter is SO different from being pregnant through the summer like I was with Hudson. I am constantly on the hunt for good maternity jeans, and these do not disappoint! I’m giving away a $50 gift card to their amazing store on my Instagram, so head on over there for details on how to enter. xoxo, Jac
