Matching Morning Downtown

Yesterday we woke up early and got out the door with plenty of time before church so we spent an hour or so Downtown just walking around. Before kids Jake and I planned to move Downtown and it’s always held this special place in our hearts. Hudson loves it down there, he just soaks it all in. Hudson’s jacket was my dad’s when he was little, and I have been dying to get some pictures of Hudson in it; this weekend it was cool enough to pull it out, and I could have just eaten him up! I will absolutely match him as long as I possibly can! Today marks 2 weeks until due date!!! Ahh! How has this pregnancy flown by so fast?! Hope all of your weeks are off to a good start! xo, J IMG_4284

Baby Shower

My sweet mama and friend threw me the most beautiful baby shower this past weekend. Friends from all over came to celebrate the sweet gift of this little life. It’s amazing how real it’s making everything feel! Just over a month to go! Here are a few of the little details from the day.

Hope your week’s are going great!

A Morning at Home

We’ve had a few cozy mornings at home this past week, and I’ve just been trying to soak it up. We have so many projects around the house we’re trying to get done before baby, it’s easy to forget to take time to move a little slower.

Each day it seems like Hudson falls more in love with this little baby (he or she seems to be having this affect on all of us). But there isn’t a day that goes by that he doesn’t ask {demand} to “see this beautiful baby right now,” as he puts it. I cannot wait to raise these two precious lives together.

I am also getting to that point where just about everything is pretty uncomfortable. With less than two months to go, and baby getting bigger by the day, I’m struggling to find clothes that me and baby can both fit in to comfortably. These PreggoLeggings fit so well, and are on repeat lately!

Hope all of your weeks are going well!

Valentine’s Day

Finally getting some pictures from our Valentine’s day up, seriously days are just flying by lately! Jake loves being behind the camera so much, we forgot to get a picture together; but we got a selfie or two from our day date the day before on Instagram. We love celebrating just the two of us on the 13th and spending the 14th as a family, just a little tradition we started a few years ago. Anyways, here are some pictures from our day at the beach.

Descanso Gardens

Saturday LA had it’s free-for-all museum day. 30+ museums opened up for the public to come and enjoy their space at no charge. We’ve been wanting to check out Descanso Gardens, and had a really fun couple of hours roaming around. It would be a great place to pack a picnic, and I imagine it’s gorgeous in the spring when everything’s in bloom! Lately, Hudson is happy anywhere he can run and find sticks, so this place was his own personal oasis. Hope your weekends were relaxed and your weeks are getting off to a great start!

Manhattan Beach

We had such a sweet weekend! So full, and so sweet. We got to celebrate one of Hudson’s best bud’s birthday, and then spent the rest of the weekend celebrating one of my best friend’s engagement! Watching my friend find her person, has been a true blessing, and her fiancé flying them out to LA for the weekend to celebrate was more than I could have hoped for her.

Sunday morning Jake got to shoot some amazing engagement photo for them, and we spent the rest of our afternoon walking around the beach, soaking up some sun, and drinking milkshakes (Hudson’s favorite part)!

This little baby is 27 weeks and I am trying to soak up the next three months of him or her growing inside me. Hudson let me wear him in the Ergo for the first time in a long time, and it was just so sweet to carry both my babes around soaking up this crazy warm winter. It honestly got so warm that we were all taking off our jackets, oh LA. Hope your weeks are going well!

An Afternoon at The Park

Some good friends recommended this amazing park that overlooks the whole city. We took the afternoon this weekend, had a picnic, and took some pictures. Typically After the holidays I feel like there’s a little lull, but not this year; things seem to be as busy as ever! So we enjoyed taking some time to slow down and be still-er. Hudson was obsessed with this park, and “cooking” with his sticks. It has undoubtedly become one of our new favorite places. I am so in love with these jeans and this sweater from PinkBlush Maternity! Being pregnant in the winter is SO different from being pregnant through the summer like I was with Hudson. I am constantly on the hunt for good maternity jeans, and these do not disappoint! I’m giving away a $50 gift card to their amazing store on my Instagram, so head on over there for details on how to enter. xoxo, Jac

Christmas 2015

Each Christmas since having Hudson has been particularly impactful on me spiritually. I just remember his first Christmas and understanding this new level of the magnitude of Christ coming as a baby, and the Father sending him in this way. As I held Hudson, seeing how fragile and vulnerable he was I just couldn’t believe God would entrust His perfect son to a sinful world. And the weight of the fact that He sent Him knowing He was sending Him for the purpose of  eventual death is just mind blowing.

Our Christmas this year was really good, really simple and included a lot of good food, staying in pjs all day, cuddling, and trying to help my two sickies get better. Jake slept half the day and finally broke his fever last night and Hudson was on and off all day, alternating between feeling gross and having more energy than he knew what to do with. Again I was just hit with the reality that this is what Christ came for; he subjected himself to humanness, to sickness, an imperfect world, and imperfect people.

Being pregnant at Christmas is officially one of my favorite things! Feeling this little tiny human swirl around inside me and being so aware of the fragility of his or her life and God’s sustaining power above the power of my own body is just amazing and drove the reality of all this home even more. Christ came in human form, He came to be with us, and to save us.
Read this from Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening devotional yesterday morning and loved it! “Immanuel, God with us in our nature, in our sorrow, in our lifework, in our punishment, in our grave, and now with us, or rather we with him, in resurrection, ascension, triumph, and Second Advent splendour”
I hope your Christmas was full of the celebration of Jesus and the amazing gifts of salvation and grace!
Merry Christmas!

Christmas Time is Here

This weekend we went to visit some friends in the town where Jake and I met, and whimsically decided to try to do some Christmas photos before we left. We threw some clothes in a bag, and headed out; this was one of our best decisions! They turned out so much better than I expected! Jake decided to turn it in to a little bit of a maternity shoot, which is fun because I hardly took any maternity photos with Hudson.

Merry Christmas!
